At Braces For Pretty Faces, we ran across an excellent article published in the Wall Street Journal “The 8-Year-Old With a Perfect Smile” that discusses the pros and cons of early orthodontic treatment. Sometimes parents are disappointment their kids still require additional orthodontic treatment when permanent teeth erupt in their teens.
While that's true in some cases, what many parents don't realize is that for the most common orthodontic problems, early treatment is often not indicated and offers no guarantees against a second round of treatment in the early teenage years. Orthodontists are sometimes pressured to treat early—from both parents and kids for aesthetic reasons, rather than waiting till all the permanent teeth erupt to reduce overall time in braces and minimize expense.

An FSA (Flexible Spending Account) is a tax-free account that allows you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible out-of-pocket health care or dependent care expenses. You choose an annual amount to contribute to your account, and your payroll deducts your salary contribution before calculating your taxes. Paying for eligible expenses with these pre-tax dollars saves money.
Did you know FSA dollars can be applied to orthodontic care? And if you so, here is a last minute reminder. Before it's too late, now is the time to start thinking about allocating $$$ to your FSA account, for 2011. Not every employer offers FSA accounts. If you are unsure, call human resources and find out today.
At Braces For Pretty Faces, part of our commitment to current patients in treatment and new patients considering orthodontic care, is providing exceptional customer service. This includes ensuring you understand and apply for all the benefits to which you are entitled, both insurance and FSA.
